This spring, UNITY is taking to the streets along with thousands of others across the country. As part of 99% Spring, UNITY groups have helped train thousands of people in non-violent direct action. As part of 99% Power, UNITY groups will be mobilizing to protest criminal corporations Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Verizon, Wal-Mart and Sallie Mae.

WHY NOW?
We are at a turning point in history. Momentum for radical change is building. The Occupy protests last fall captured the imagination of a country that has been subjected to unchecked corporate power for decades, resulting in rising economic inequality and environmental devastation for the 99%.
In order to successfully confront corporate power, organizations with longstanding roots in oppressed communities are coming together to fight the 1% at corporate shareholder meetings, to give voice to the issues of the 99% that are central to the 2012 election season, and to build people power for the long-term.
